Dentro del programa Explore USA LGBT Edition, la Embajada de los EE.UU. en España dió una beca a un estudiante valenciano, Juan, que se ha incorporado como voluntario en It Gets Better España y nos va a escribir todas las semanas para contarnos su experiencia en Los Ángeles.

¡Este viaje sigue siendo alucinante!
Hasta ahora hemos visitado muchísimos lugares como: West Hollywood, Los Angeles Civic Center, El Pueblo, la playa de Santa Monica (donde se rodó «Los vigilantes de la playa» :), el museo Getty, el parque Echo Park… Hemos estado caminando todos los días de un sitio a otro. ¡Y es tan excitante todo que ni siquiera tienes tiempo de cansarte!
El día de ayer fue increíble: visitamos las oficinas de la ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) y nos hicieron un tour. Pudimos conocer a un activista representante de ACLU que nos contó acerca de la organización, sus principios, sus objetivos y sus áreas de actuación.
Después Justin Tindall nos hizo una presentación sobre la historia del movimiento It Gets Better Project. Él es actualmente el coordinador del área internacional de It Gets Better, supervisando a los afiliados internacionales como It Gets Better España. También nos habló de otras grandes organizaciones LGTB como la Gay Straight Alliance (Alianza Gay-Hetero).
Es muy inspirador conocer el duro trabajo que estas personas están haciendo para promover los derechos humanos y para animarnos a participar e invlucrarnos.

Hello there!
This trip still continues to amaze me! The updates so far are:
We’ve visited so many places such as West Hollywood, Los Angeles Civic Center and El Pueblo, Santa Monica’s Beach, the Getty Museum, the Echo Park… 😀 We’ve been continuously walking the whole week from one place to another. However, it is so exciting that you don’t really have time to get tired.
Yesterday was awesome. We visited Justin at the ACLU offices and we had the great opportunity to take a tour throughout his workplace. We met an advocate representative from the ACLU and he told us about the organization, their principles, their aims and their fields of action.
After that, Justin showed us a presentation talking about the history of the It Gets Better Project. He currently manages the international area of IGB supervising the rest of the affiliates that operate abroad. He also told us about other great LGBT organizations like the Gay Straight Alliance.
It is so inspiring to know the hard work these people are doing in order to promote human rights that encourage us to participate and get involved.
